Text: Revelation 18

1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory.

2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!

3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN

After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory.

Revelation 18:1

1. This angel from heaven

a) He was given great authority

b) He came from heaven

2. The earth

a) It was illuminated with his glory

b) A special manifestation of God

THE MESSAGE OF THE ANGEL

And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!

Revelation 18:2

1. Babylon the Great is fallen, is fallen

a) Nobody thought that Babylon would ever fall

b) So many nations were associated with Babylon

2. The fate of Babylon

a) It has become a dwelling place of demons

b) A prison for every foul spirit

c) A cage for every unclean and hated bird

3. Judgment of the nations

For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

Revelation 18:3

a) Drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication

b) Kings of the earth have committed fornication with her

c) Merchants of the earth became rich through Babylon

d) There was an abundance of luxury
