Text: Daniel 7:1-8

Dear Young People,

THE DEMISE OF THE FOUR GREAT WORLD EMPIRES

Again history comes to our aid. We know that all four empires have come and gone. The destruction of the four great empires was also prophesied. We read,

“As for the rest of the beasts,
they had their dominion taken away…”
Daniel 7:12

ANYMORE GREAT EMPIRES?

As we look at the text carefully, we note these words,

“I was considering the horns,
and there was another horn,
a little one, coming up among them,
before whom three of the first horns
were plucked up by the roots.”
Daniel 7:8

Who or what is this little horn? History does not record any more great power after the demise of the mighty Roman Empire. This little horn is supposed to be powerful enough to pluck out three horns by their roots!

To answer this question, we need to read a little more.

“And there in this horn,
were eyes like the eyes of a man,
and a mouth speaking pompous words”
Daniel 7:8

We have another clue. Since history does not record the emergence of another great empire, and since this little horn is going to be a powerful one, we will have to conclude that this little horn refers to a prophecy yet to be fulfilled!

That’s the exciting thing about studying prophecy. We will come across prophecies that are not yet fulfilled! It is always exciting to try and figure out when these prophecies would be fulfilled. Prophecies are a part of history. It is history foretold! Thus we should look at world history carefully! Prophecies could be fulfilled right in front of our eyes!

THE NEXT WORLD EMPIRE IS GOING TO BE REPRESENTED BY THE LITTLE HORN

Will this prophecy also be fulfilled? If all the other prophecies have been fulfilled, there is no reason why we should doubt that this particular prophecy would not be fulfilled! Grow your regard for the prophetic word! Keep reading the Scriptures!
