Your Throne Shall Be Established Forever

King David had developed a great heart of love for the Lord,

He desired very much to build a great House for his God!

But God gave him a word that was humbling to the soul,

He had been too much a man of war, if truth be told.

David had been but a poor shepherd lad, yet he had become King,

God had blessed him abundantly, and he wrote many songs to sing.

He had to fight many battles before he could establish his throne,

He wondered how long his kingdom would last, if left on its own?

God gave to David a wonderful word of assurance one fine day,

“Your throne shall be established forever!” The kingdom is here to stay.

These words were astonishing and they seem impossible to comprehend,

How could any kingdom be sustained forever? What was God’s plan?

The Lord did not have in mind an earthly kingdom when He spoke those words,

He had in mind an eternal Kingdom that His Son would reign over, rest assured.

The promise to David, not fully understood, lay shrouded in mystery for the longest time,

No one understood that one day God would send His Son to fulfil this promise sublime.
