MY PRESENCE WILL GO WITH YOU

A Holy Communion Poem

“I will not go up in your midst,” the LORD solemnly declared;

The significance of these words made many hearts truly sad!

The Presence of God had been taken too much for granted;

God would withdraw His Presence if it cannot be appreciated!

Moses pleaded the “grace of God” with all his heart and soul;

He entered into a deep and complex prayer, ardent and bold.

He knew that if God were to withdraw His vital Presence;

Entering the Promised Land would have little significance!

“My Presence will go with you,” God declared finally;

Moses’ prayer was received by the Lord graciously.

The Presence of God was now appreciated afresh;

The Lord had promised that His people He would bless!

“If Your presence does not go with us,” Moses said;

The future would be flat, pointless and virtually dead.

How wonderful it is to have God’s promise of His presence;

Let us treasure this precious truth and its vital significance!
