IN MY DISTRESS I CALLED UPON THE LORD

Some days are happy and almost care-free;

We rejoice in the Lord and we are truly happy.

We speak of love for the LORD and this is real;

Deep and good affection for Him is what we feel.

Then suddenly, things we do not expect happen;

We almost feel we have lost our contact in Heaven.

A sense of foreboding comes upon our heart and mind;

We are almost groping to find direction like the blind.

Death seems so very real and near at hand;

Fears threaten, and we don’t really understand.

The thought of death is suddenly overwhelming;

Our life is at stake and our faith seems weakening.

Our prayers must ascend to the LORD in heaven above;

The thought that God hears us must be enough!

He knows these moments that can be distressful;

Let us be reminded that God is ever faithful!
