IF I HAVE DONE THIS

Prayer is not meant to be merely asking for blessings;

The truly wise seeks to practise candid reflecting.

This is part of the  practice of godly meditation.

There must be honesty in deep contemplation.

We need to give time to reflect on what we have done;

The day is long with many deeds, from morn to set of sun.

Have we perhaps done that which is iniquity?

Does our conscience tell us that we are guilty?

This reflection must not lead to self-condemnation;

The point of this exercise is to come to true realisation,

The heart must know that when bad things happen;

We may actually have been the cause of our problem!

Can we still ask the Lord for His grace and mercy?

Would He hear our prayers when we are guilty?

The LORD is wonderful and most gracious;

He will show compassion and offer forgiveness!
