I Lay Down And Slept

Sleeping comes naturally to little babies,

Few things bother, there are no worries.

Sleeping becomes harder with anxiety,

Sleeping soundly is no longer a reality.

The body is tired but the mind cannot rest,

The heart is fearful, the spirit is pressed.

Only in prayer can the soul find repose,

In turning to God the soul can be composed.

In response to faith, the Lord becomes a shield,

He is the Giver of glory, the heart may be still.

The Lord will hear the heartfelt cry of His child,

He will protect them from enemies, wicked and wild.

The comforted soul may find sleep in the Lord,

He need not stay hopelessly awake in God.

The Lord gives His beloved child the rest he needs,

God will sustain him and strengthen him indeed!
