God Is the Strength of My Life

Deep distress can sap so much strength from life,

The world is so complicated with incomprehensible strife.

Good and Evil appear locked in deadly battle all the time,

Despair sets in when Evil seems to triumph over Good sublime.

Questions and doubts invade with relentless force,

Faith is in retreat, and the faithful seem so lost.

Strength wanes when faith is too weak to give battle,

What are we made of? What is our soul’s true mettle?

Strength must be found to battle many powerful foes.

The soul must search deeply or be crushed by life’s woes.

“God is the strength of my life,” must be our battle cry,

No matter the odds, our faith can triumph, we need not die!

Drawing near to God is the wisest decision we can make,

Faith is renewed, and strength is obtained, and no mistake!

Let us make the Lord. the portion of our inheritance in life,

We will then find sufficient strength to battle all kinds of strife.
