And The Third Day He Will Rise Again

Jesus strode bravely to Jerusalem to fulfil His destiny,
His disciples followed but with a great sense of timidity.
They were sorrowful that Jesus said that He would die,
They were also afraid for themselves, and that was no lie!

The Son of Man would be betrayed by one of His own,
The chief priests refused to recognize His claim on the Throne,
They did not believe that He was the Son of David, the Messiah,
Their hearts did not recognize Him; He was not their hearts’ desire.

They would mock Him, scourge Him, and cause Him to be crucified,
The enemies wanted His tomb to be guarded, or they would not be satisfied.
Would Jesus truly rise from the dead on the third day as He had said?
How could anyone be resurrected? Jesus was slain! He was dead!

On the third day, some women disciples came to the tomb of Jesus to weep,
The past few days had been restless ones, and no one had been able to sleep!
Mary Magdalene wept hard that her beloved Rabbi was now no more,
No one could understand and heal the deep sorrow that she bore.

Jesus appeared to Mary in the gloom that was darkest before dawn,
He called out to her and assured her He was alive; she need not mourn!
Every word of the Lord Jesus came to pass, just as He had plainly said,
Death had no power keep Him down; GOD had raised Jesus from the dead!
