THAT THE SCRIPTURES MIGHT BE FULFILLED
On the surface the chief priests seemed to have gained the upper hand,
Their wicked plotting seemed to have succeeded to bring Jesus’ life to an end.
They forced the hand of Pilate so that he did their evil will,
They missed out the fact that Scriptures had to be fulfilled.
The soldiers struck Jesus and badly marred His face,
What they did to Him was such pitiful disgrace.
They gambled His clothes as they crucified Him,
They did not understand the Scriptures- they fitted in!
Jesus was nailed to the Cross according to God’s Divine Plan,
This was the redemption that God had planned for sinful man.
Jesus died according to all the prophecies of the servants of God
Nothing happened to Jesus that was not in Scriptural accord.
When Jesus died on the Cross so soon, the soldiers had to check to appear wise,
They would often break the legs of the crucified and hasten their demise.
When they came to Jesus they saw that He was truly dead,
They pierced His side, and fulfilled another prophetic instead.
John 19:24, 36
