FOLLOW ME

FOLLOW ME

“Follow Me…” With these words Jesus called men to follow Him,
For three years the disciples followed Him through thick and thin.
They had learned much all though they stumbled along the way,
But there was always forgiveness and love that prevented dismay.

The disciples had failed to remain steadfast because of fear,
Their running away had caused them to shed many a tear.
Jesus had sought out the disciples though they were ashamed,
He wanted to let them know that He loved them just the same.

“Follow Me…” These words were heard once again,
He told Peter that in following Him there would be pain.
Jesus spoke about how Peter may die for his faith one day,
But through his death he would bring glory to God in a special way.

Peter asked Jesus about plans for the disciple whom He loved,
Would John have to endure suffering, decreed from above?
Jesus did not give an answer to Peter’s query,
He was to follow Jesus and not fret or worry.

“Follow Me” is still Jesus’ word to all today,
Those who understand will obey without delay.
The Gospel of John bears strong testimony for the Lord,
It invites all readers to believe in Jesus the Son of God.
