BEARING HIS CROSS

BEARING HIS CROSS

Jesus had taught His disciples to be prepared to carry their cross,
Did they fully understand what He said? Did they count the cost?
“And He bearing His cross”- Jesus was living out what He had said,
The pain was severe, and He was tired, but He was not afraid.

The crucifixion would take place at Golgotha, the place of the Skull,
The place resembled a human head, this could be seen even by the dull.
Two thieves were crucified alongside, both men deserved to die,
“Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews”- His title; This was the truth and not a lie!

He was Kingly in the way He bore His suffering and pain,
That no one had ever shown such dignity, that was plain.
His enemies objected to the title that Pilate had placed over His head,
Pilate refused and for the first time won a victory over the Jews instead.

The phrase “Bearing your cross” took new meaning that day,
Only the true-hearted, the bold could do this without dismay.
Jesus had always lived out every word that He had taught,
Now “bearing His cross” He fulfilled His Father’s will as He ought.
