AS THE FATHER HAS SENT ME
The violence that Jesus suffered had caused the disciples to fear,
They assembled themselves and locked the door lest their foes drew near.
Some disciples had already begun to believe in the story of the empty tomb,
The door was locked but mysteriously Jesus came into the same room.
They were stunned to silence for they could scarcely believe,
Jesus stood in their midst and sought their fears to relieve.
He showed them the nail-scarred hands as proof that He was their Lord,
The pierced side was also shown, there was now no dispute or discord.
The disciples were glad that their Teacher had indeed risen from the dead,
Their fears were without foundation, there was truly no need to be afraid.
Jesus brought joy to their hearts with greetings of joy and peace,
The disciples were now happy, their hearts were truly at ease.
“As the Father has sent Me…” Jesus once again spoke of His mission,
He was always conscious of fulfilling His Father’s Great Commission.
His work on earth was completed, but that of the disciples had just begun,
“I also send you… The Spirit of God will help them till their work was done.
