THAT MY JOY MAY REMAIN IN YOU

THAT MY JOY MAY REMAIN IN YOU

The joy that Jesus gives has to be experienced first-hand,
It would otherwise be most difficult to comprehend.
A Samaritan woman felt the greatest joy that changed her destiny,
This new-found faith and joy enabled her to forsake her ways of infamy.

A blind man had no reason to speak of joy on earth at one time,
But when he at last could see, his heart experienced a joy sublime.
Jesus sought to teach people faith and hope in life,
Far too many had lost their joy through strife.

Jesus promised that His joy would in our hearts remain,
But we would have to learn how to truly love His name.
In Christ and His Word, we must learn to abide,
And in His eternal love we learn to reside.

Many hearts long to find a joy that is deep and true,
They seek worldly pleasures but these they come to rue.
The world cannot give a joy that would truly last,
How we must all our burdens on Jesus cast!

Joy is not an illusory and impossible dream,
Jesus knows the hurts that make us scream.
He offers a joy that comes if we learn to abide,
We must return to His word and let it guide.

Joy is a precious gift from our Teacher dear,
It helps us bear the heaviest load with cheer.
This precious joy of Jesus could be ours today,
If to God our Father, in faith, we would pray.
