I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD
Jesus looked at the religious rulers in the troubled land,
His heart was grieved that so few good shepherds were at hand.
The shepherds should have done their best to feed the sheep,
They should have done all they could, the lambs, to keep.
Many did not understand His Shepherd’s soul,
They saw Him as One who made the body whole.
“ I am the Good Shepherd,” Jesus cried to all,
His lambs and sheep will respond quickly to His call.
Jesus loves His sheep, yes, every single one of them,
Each sheep was considered a very precious gem.
He loves them as only a Good Shepherd could,
He was not afraid to lay down His life if He should.
He knows His sheep, He knows each one by name,
No matter how wayward, He loves them all the same.
He would search for the sheep that is out there in the cold.
He would not rest till He had brought him back into the fold.
The greatest test for the Good Shepherd was to die for His sheep,
He would have to endure much, in order His sheep, to keep.
Jesus proved Himself to be the most wonderful Shepherd ever,
The sheep that has been found should never contemplate departure!
