I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE

I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE

“How may we work the works of God?” the multitudes asked,
We would like to do His work, no matter how hard the task.
Jesus answered this question with deep intent,
He said simply, “Believe in Him whom God has sent.”

The multitudes asked Him to perform a special sign,
To the miracle of the feeding of thousands they were blind.
They wanted more signs that they may believe,
But Jesus knew that His word they would not receive.

He spoke about Moses who gave them bread,
They needed to know it was God who Israel led.
That great God who gave bread to sustain life,
Had now given to them the Lord Jesus Christ.

Could the people see that Jesus was the Bread from Heaven?
His life was as pure as bread that had no leaven.
Jesus gave the bread that would fill the soul,
He would grant them living water that would make them whole.

He who believes in Jesus would find what faith is all about.
No matter how sinful, God would never cast him out.
Precious everlasting joy the Lord would give,
If only they would Jesus, by faith, receive.

The multitudes heard all that Jesus had to say,
They turned their hearts from Him in dismay,
They wanted Jesus to be their King,
So that He would provide and give them things.

They were not interested in hearing about eternal life,
Their focus was on the things of this world with all its strife.
They turned their back on Jesus that very day,
They left Him abruptly, without delay.

Their hearts were hardened, their eyes were blind,
They could not understand the miracles as God’s sign.
Jesus was the One whom God had sealed and anointed,
Those who believed in Him would never be disappointed.
