HE HAS OPENED MY EYES

HE HAS OPENED MY EYES

My world was grim and full of darkness,
I felt the fullness of human weakness
I want so much to walk in the light.
But I was blind, and without sight.

I was reduced to go a-begging
I knew no other way to make a living.
Would I ever get out of my misery?
The idea of God was just a mystery.

Many freely offered their views
Some said that my parents sinned- was that true?
Others said that I had sinned thus I could not see;
But I was born blind- how could that be?

One day a Gentle Voice called out to me,
He posed the wildest question ever to be.
He spoke like no other, His tone was as if He were God
My heart trembled and whispered, “Could this be the Lord?’

His name was Jesus and He took some clay,
He spat on it and anointed my eyes that day.
He told me to go to the pool Siloam and there wash- unabashed
I did as I was told and my eyes were restored in a flash!

Imagine the joy I felt when I saw for the first time in my life;
But there were cynical people who created cruel strife.
They caused my own parents to be afraid of them,
They opposed all that Jesus preached about the spiritual realm.

But I was not afraid of all the threats they hurled at me
He has opened my eyes and now I am able to see!
I will tell the world about my faith in Jesus Christ;
And all who turn to Him in faith would have eternal life.
