ABIDE IN MY LOVE
Three aspects of “Abiding” were profoundly taught,
All of them are with difficulty fraught.
The problem lies within our heart and soul,
We cannot fully comprehend “Abiding” as a whole.
Jesus took time to patiently explain,
He chose to understand and not to blame.
He had to teach many, in Him, to abide,
And His words, in the heart, to hide.
But there was a third truth more profound yet,
This must be taught so that the heart would not fret;
“Abide in My love” was the third word taught,
This lesson on love is one that must be “caught.”
Jesus’ love was plain for all to see,
That love would extend to all eternity.
The source of that love was from God who dwells on high,
Through Jesus the Saviour that love was brought nigh.
Abiding in Christ’s love adds a new dimension,
It opens our heart to greater appreciation.
It takes away the shame that comes with failure,
It blunts the world’s temptations and allure.
To abide in Christ is a life-changing teaching,
To abide in His word will succeed if we have great yearning.
To abide in His love completes the teaching of Abiding,
It will cause us to be most fruitful through the Spirit’s empowering.
