#5: RETURN, O BACKSLIDING CHILDREN

The fact of backsliding was too obvious to deny,

The forsaking of a good God brings tears to the eye.

How could anyone forget the Lord who has saved?

How could one worship idols and for them crave?

God’s anger was justified for backsliding is a sin,

Mercifully, He offers cleansing from deep within.

Faced with certain judgment how should one behave?

To continue to backslide would lead one to the grave!

God offered mercy, full and free, to all who would return,

There is no need to fear judgment, His anger need not burn.

The call is made to all “backsliding children,” to return to God,

The heart is moved, that there is such grace from the LORD!

How should we return but to confess that we have sinned?

Our hearts have become foolish, our sight is sadly dimmed!

God can take away the guilt of sin and give us a new heart,

We must determine that from Him we would never depart!
