REVIVE YOUR WORK IN THE MIDST OF THE YEARS

(A Communion Poem)

The passage of time can cause a drying of the soul;

The first love no longer exists, the spirit is not whole.

Lip service is given, but the heart is not there,

The forlorn spirit cries out in great despair.

“O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years!”

This must be a cry to the Lord offered up with tears!

The soul needs to be revived or it will remain weak,

The heart must know how the LORD to truly seek!

God’s work in our life must be examined again;

Where is the strength and the joyous refrain?

Great strength can ebb away and the river is dry;

How the soul must be afraid and to the Lord cry!

The Lord bids us to come to His table to be renewed;

In communion with Him the soul will be rescued.

May the Lord revive us in the midst of the years!

May He deliver us and wipe away our sad tears!
