A COLT, THE FOAL OF A DONKEY

The prophecy of the Messiah-King was meant to cause hearts to rejoice,

But the words of the Prophecy seemed strange- a donkey was the choice?

This colt was young and had never been ridden on before by any man,

It would need its mother alongside, or it could be stubborn as a donkey can!

How did the Messiah-King feel concerning this prophecy of old?

Would He have preferred a mighty horse, powerful and bold?

The symbol of a humble donkey was clear for all to appreciate,

This Messiah-King will bring Peace and not War and Hate!

What does it matter the animal that the Messiah-King would ride?

Throughout all His ministry, He did not own a house in which to reside!

He went to homes that would be open to receive Him as the Lord,

Gladly He would stay in that home and bless it in the name of God!

How blessed was the man who gave Jesus his colt and its mother!

What a privilege to give something to Jesus! What a great honour!

The crowds did not have much to offer the glorious Messiah-King,

Jesus the Messiah-King, gladly received their joyous praise-offering!
