JESHURUN, WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN

Many were the doubts and fears that Israel had,

The people were often doubtful and many were sad!

Their leaders, both political and spiritual had failed,

They had no hope for the future, unbelief prevailed!

In the midst of deep unbelief, God reached out.

Israel need not continue in sin, nor be in doubt!

God had chosen Israel, though it was so very weak,

He had formed the nation, He would heal the sick!

God had a pet name for Israel, “Jeshurun” was that name!

It meant that God saw Israel “as virtuous and without blame.”

He had blotted out their sins, He would not recall them at all;

God’s grace and mercy are sufficient! On Him they must call!

To all who are thirsty, sufficient water He would give

He would bless them distinctly, the Spirit they will receive!

One day, His people would know how much God had preserved;

Wisdom teaches us to open our hearts to Him without reserve!
