I WILL NOT DENY YOU

With all sincerity, Peter exclaimed he would never deny the Lord!

That was unthinkable, for was not Jesus the very Son of God?

So the other disciples also declared their devotion and loyalty;

Their sincerity was touching. But how could that stand reality?

With stirring words, the Disciples declared that they would true!

They could not imagine denying, after all they had been through.

Stirring words are also touching, but would words be enough?

How would the words stand up when things become truly rough?

With great fervour, the Disciples declared their love for the Lord,

They were prepared to die with Him, who had been sent by God!

But is fervour enough, when the day of severe testing arises?

Would they be fully prepared for testing’s many surprises?

Jesus did not respond to these words because He knew better;

His Disciples would find out the truth about themselves later.

Their hearts were in the right place, but that was not sufficient,

Only after they were empowered would their words be efficient!
