A. GOALS
1. To comprehend the need for spiritual leaders to rise up
2. To introduce the concept of “Spiritual Leadership”
3. To discover distinctive features of Spiritual Leadership
4. To make appropriate responses to the challenge of spiritual leadership

B. THE DISASTER OF THE ABSENCE OF GOOD SPIRITUAL LEADERS
1. The Book of Judges illustrates this grave danger
2. Everyone will do what is right in his own eyes          Judges 17:6; 21:25
3. Consequences are terrible to note

a) Weakness

b) Prey to predators (false teachers)

c) Danger afoot all the time

d) Division/schism

e) The fabric of society threatens to unravel

f) Sin and lawlessness prevail

C. CONCEPTS OF SECULAR LEADERSHIP
1. Secular leadership is suitable for secular organisations
2. Types of leadership in the secular world

a) Profit driven

b) Shareholders

c) Changing models

i) Sole proprietorship

ii) Management theories (old)

iii) Management theories (new/ contemporary)

iv) The concept of the CEO

v) The concept of a Board of Directors

d) Language

i) Vision

ii) Mission

iii) Empowering

e) These models may fit secular organisations

3. Are these concepts really suitable or applicable to the Church?

a) Can we superimpose these leadership principles to the Church?

b) If they “do work” would that necessarily result in blessing from the Lord?

c) The problem of human greatness (self)

4. Are there Biblical-spiritual principles that we must know and apply where church leadership is concerned?

a) What are these principles?

b) How may they be acquired?

c) How may they be applied effectively?

D. THE CONCEPT OF SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP
1. The involvement of God in the life of the spiritual leader
2. The features of a spiritual person

3. The fulfillment of a Divine Task
