Title: “Fear Not!”

INTRODUCTION

1. The Fear of the LORD

a) This is Clearly Taught

b) This is to be Carefully Cultivated

c) But few are able to Consistently Practise this

2. The problem of Human Fear

a) This is easily Caught

i) We fear many things

ii) Some become life phobias

b) It has Crippling Effects

c) Few know how to Counter this problem of “Human Fear”

A. GOD’S APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM OF HUMAN FEARS

1. God addresses the problem of Fear

a) We try and dismiss our fears but they do not go away

b) We avoid admitting that we are afraid

c) We do not have a great solution to the problem of fear

2. The problem of Fear

a) It can be crippling

b) It can be destructive

c) It is potentially deadly

d) It must be dealt with

e) It can be dealt with effectively

3. Three times God addresses this problem of Fear

a) Fear Not (Isaiah 41:10)

b) Fear Not (Isaiah 41:13)

c) Fear Not (Isaiah 41:14)

4. Three times, He repeats a special promise

a) I will help you (Isaiah 41:10)

b) I will help you (Isaiah 41:13)

c) I will help you (Isaiah 41:14)

B. GOD’S ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM OF FEAR

1. He reminds us of our Relationship with Him
Like Israel:
In His own words:

a) You are My servant (Isaiah 41:9)

b) And Called (Isaiah 41:9)

c) I have Chosen you (Isaiah 41:9)

d) I have not cast you away (Isaiah 41:9)

e) I am your God (Isaiah 41:10)

2. He reminds us of His Promises
In His own words:

a) I am with you (Isaiah 41:10)

b) I will strengthen you (Isaiah 41:10)

c) I will help you (Isaiah 41:10)

d) I will uphold you (Isaiah 41:10)

e) I will hold your right hand (Isaiah 41:13)

3. He reminds us of His Being

a) He is the LORD our God (Isaiah 41:13)

b) He is our Redeemer (Isaiah 41:14)

c) The Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 41:14)

4. He offers the following:

a) You shall rejoice in the LORD (Isaiah 41:16a)

b) And glory in the Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 41:16b)

C. GOD’S GRACIOUS OFFER TO ALL WHO WANT TO OVERCOME FEAR
Isaiah 41:20

1. Fear may be dealt a mortal blow

2. Fear may be defeated!

3. Ponder and Meditate on God’s Gracious Offer

a) The grace of Sight
That they may See (Isaiah 41:20a)

b) The grace of Knowledge
That they may Know (Isaiah 41:20b)

c) The grace of Thought
That that may Consider (Isaiah 41:20c)

d) The grace of Understanding
That they may Understand (Isaiah 41:20d)

CONCLUSION

1. Reviewing the week (16-23 February 2020)

a) Thank God for the many who have written to express appreciation of this new Video Ministry

b) Thank God also for a faithful and skilful Audio-Video Team

2. Thank God for all who have rallied in very practical ways to support Bethany.

3. We will practise what the LORD has called us to do: “Fear Not!”

a) We will not fear poor support of the Lord’s work
