“To Anoint My Body for Burial”

Text: Mark 14:3-9

1. Recognition
She has done a good work for Me Mark 14:6

a) Mary (identified by John in his gospel) John 12:3
b) Anointing of Jesus with costly spikenard
c) Wiping the feet of Jesus with her hair John 12:3

2. Regard
She has done what she could.
She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial Mark 14:8

a) Criticism of what Mary did
i) The cost was 300 denarii (120 days of wages)
ii) It could have been sold and the money given to the poor
b) Defended by the Lord Jesus Christ
i) This was given to the Lord in deep gratitude and love
ii) Giving a deeply personal gift that few would understand

4. Remembrance
What this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her Mark 14:9

a) A Memorial of her life that had been Impacted Deeply by Jesus
b) A Memorial of her Impressive Insight concerning the death of Jesus
c) A Memorial of her Inspired Gift of Love for Jesus
