THE MENTION OF “STRENGTH”

1. Be my strong refuge   (Psalm 71:3)

2. But You are my strong refuge   (Psalm 71:7)

3. Do not cast me off in the time of old age;
Do not forsake me when my strength fails   (Psalm 71:9)

4. I will go in the strength of the LORD God   (Psalm 71:16)

5. Now also when I am old and gray-headed,
O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come.   (Psalm 71:18)

UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT OF STRENGTH

1. Prayer to God to be a Personal Strong Refuge   (Psalm 71:3)

a) Commencement
b) Continuing to resort to God

2. Practice of Resorting to God as the Strong Refuge in the day of trouble

a) When the hand of the wicked is raised up   (Psalm 71:4)
b) The hand of the unrighteous and cruel man   (Psalm 71:4)

3. A Prayer of Hope and Trust

a) In old age
b) When the natural strength fails   (Psalm 71:9)
c) And enemies continue to attack   (Psalm 71:10)
i) They speak ill of
ii) They lie in wait
iii) They plot and plan to slay

4. Powerful Confidence in the strength of the LORD God

a) I will go in the strength of the LORD God
b) I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only   (Psalm 71:16)

5. Prayer for strength to teach this and the next generation   (Psalm 71:18)

a) How God has taught from youth   (Psalm 71:17)
b) His wondrous works/ great things   (Psalm 71:17, 19)
c) His power   (Psalm 71:18)
d) His righteousness is very high   (Psalm 71:19)
e) How He can bring revival   (Psalm 71:20)
f) How He can increase greatness   (Psalm 71:21)
g) How He can comfort on every side   (Psalm 71:21)

6. Concluding the Year on a note of Joy and Praise

a) My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You
And my soul, which You have redeemed   (Psalm 71:23)
b) My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness
All the day long.   (Psalm 71:24)
