IS THERE UNRIGHTEOUSNESS WITH GOD?

1. Can God do that which is unrighteous?

2. Is there any unrighteousness in the Being of God?

3. Why this question was raised

a) With reference to the subject of “election” (choosing) (Romans 9:11)
b) On what basis did God choose one and not another?

4. Paul’s answer
Certainly not! (Romans 9:14)

AN IMPORTANT BIBLICAL ANSWER

1. God said to Moses
“I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy” (Romans 9:15a)

“I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion” (Romans 9:15b)

2. Understanding Election

a) Not of works (Romans 9:11)
b) But of Him who calls (Romans 9:11)
c) Not of him who wills (the human being) (Romans 9:16)
d) Not of him who runs (effort) (Romans 9:16)
e) But of God who shows mercy (Romans 9:16)

3. The Example of Pharaoh

a) For this very purpose I have raised you up
b) That I may show My power in you
c) And that My name may be declared in all the earth (Romans 9:17)

4. The mercy of God

a) Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills (Romans 9:18)
b) And whom He wills, He hardens (Romans 9:18)
