THE WORK OF CHRIST

1. What the Law could not do

a) Because of the weakness of the flesh (Romans 8:3)
b) There were limitations in the Law

2. Christ came to do what the Law could not

a) God sent His own Son (Romans 8:3)
b) Made like sinful flesh (Romans 8:3)
c) On account of sin (Romans 8:3)
d) He was tempted… but He did not sin (Hebrews 4:14-16)

3. Christ’s conquest over sin

a) He condemned sin in the flesh (Romans 8:3)
b) He fulfilled the righteous requirement of the Law (Romans 8:4)

4. The believer

a) The righteous requirement is “fulfilled in us” (Romans 8:4)
b) Through faith in Jesus
c) Through identification with Christ
d) These do not walk according to the flesh
e) But according to the Spirit

5. The danger of being carnally minded

a) Living according to the flesh (Romans 8:5)
b) The mind is set on things of the flesh (Romans 8:5)
c) To be carnally minded is death (Romans 8:5)
d) The carnal mind is enmity against God (Romans 8:7)
e) It is not subject to the law of God (Romans 8:7)
f) Those who live in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:7)

6. The blessing of being spiritually minded

a) There is peace (Romans 8:6)
b) There is life (Romans 8:6)
