BEFORE THE ADVENT OF FAITH

1. The righteous judgment of God (Romans 1)

a. The wrath of God is revealed from heaven (Romans 1: 18)
i. Against ungodliness
ii. Against unrighteousness
b. God gave them up (Romans 1: 24, 26)
c. God gave them over to a debased mind (Romans 1: 28)

2. Application

a. Without faith, how will we fare against the righteous judgment of God?
b. Answer from the Scriptures
i. All are under sin (Romans 3: 9)
ii. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3: 23)

THE ADVENT OF FAITH

1. Faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3: 21 – 26)

THE ADVANCEMENT OF FAITH

1. Struggling against sin

a. Do not let sin reign in your mortal body (Romans 6: 12)

2. No condemnation to those in Christ (Romans 8: 1)

3. The Holy Spirit given to us

a. Walk according to the Spirit (Romans 8: 1)
b. Free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8: 2)
c. Set your mind on things of the Spirit (Romans 8: 4)
d. Gives life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8: 11)
e. Prayer; relating to God as “Abba Father” (Romans 8: 15)
