SEEKING GOD

1. I cried out to You, O LORD

a) Seeking God
i) For His pardon
ii) For forgiveness
iii) For reconciliation
iv) For restitution
b) And to the LORD I made supplication
i) Repeatedly
ii) Urgently
iii) Sorrowfully

2. Content of prayer

a) Rhetorical questions
They display what was in the mind of David. They show us how he prayed!
i) What profit is there in my blood?   (Psalm 30:9a)
ii) When I go down to the pit
Will the dust praise You?   (Psalm 30:9b)
iii) Will it declare Your truth?   (Psalm 30:9c)
These are desperate pleas for help!
b) Pleading mercy
i) Hear, O LORD
ii) Have mercy   (Psalm 30:10a)
iii) Be my Helper   (Psalm 30:10b)

GRATITUDE FOR GOD’S MERCY BESTOWED

1. Mourning

a) Personal feelings
b) Deep sadness
i) For sin
ii) For foolishness

2. My sackcloth

a) Sign of deep sorrow
b) Repentance of heart

3. Dancing

a) Opposite of mourning
b) Great joy returns

4. Clothed with gladness

a) In place of sackcloth
b) Total opposite

DIVINE PURPOSE

1. To give glory to man

a) Indicative of His favour
b) And of His forgiveness and restoration
c) Blessings

2. Appropriate response to the LORD God

a) My glory may sing praise to You   (Psalm 30:12a)
b) And not be silent   (Psalm 30:12b)
c) I will give thanks to You forever   (Psalm 30:12c)
