MAKING HIS PRESENCE KNOWN PERSONALLY TO THE PATRIARCHS

1. God made His presence known to Abram   (Genesis 12)

2. He met with Isaac personally   (Genesis 26:23-25)

3. He also met with Jacob personally   (Genesis 28)

WHEN THE PRESENCE OF GOD WAS NOT KNOWN OR FELT

1. The children of Israel had lived in Egypt in the days when Joseph was next to the Pharaoh in position and power   (Genesis 40-50)

2. They were there for 400 years and became feared by Pharaoh   (Exodus 1:7)

3. The children of Israel lived in great hardship for hundreds of years

4. Their knowledge of God was weak and vague; they cried out to the God of their fathers

REVEALING HIS PRESENCE TO THE MAN APPOINTED AS THE LEADER

1. God had a mighty plan to deliver His people, the children of Israel

2. He would send them a deliverer who would lead them

a) Out of bondage in Egypt
b) To the Land of Promise given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

3. But first He must reveal His Presence to the man He had chosen to be the Leader

GOD’S REVELATION OF HIMSELF

1. Calling of Moses at the Burning Bush   (Exodus 3:1-5)

2. As the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob   (Exodus 3:6)

CULTIVATION OF A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GOD AND MOSES

1. Revelation of God

2. Revelation of God’s plan for redemption

3. Revelation of God’s power

a) Leprous hand
b) Rod into a serpent

4. Sending of Moses as His appointed servant

OVERCOMING FEARS

1. Fear of inadequacy

2. Fear of failure

3. Fear of the people

4. Fear of the Pharaoh

OVERCOMING FEAR WITH FAITH IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

1. I am the God of your fathers   (Exodus 3:6)

2. I AM WHO I AM   (Exodus 3:14)

3. I AM has sent you   (Exodus 3:14, 15)

4. I will teach you what you shall do   (Exodus 4:15)
