THE MIRACLES OF THE LORD JESUS

1. The Gospels recorded many mighty miracles performed by the Lord Jesus Christ

2. Defining a miracle

a) The power of God is obviously seen
i) It is out of the ordinary
ii) Supernatural power is involved
b) Each miracle is a message in itself
i) To the individual recipient
ii) To observers
c) It may be called “sign and a wonder”
i) It is a special means of communicating an important message from God
ii) These signs and wonders were sometimes performed by prophets of old

CATEGORIES OF MIRACLES

1. Some were performed in full view of the public

a) Feeding of the 5000   (Matthew 14:13-21)
b) Feeding of the 4000   (Matthew 15:32-39)

2. Some others were performed in response to faith

a) The faith of the centurion   (Matthew 9:5-13)
b) The faith of two blind men   (Matthew 27-31)

3. A third category was to manifest the glory of the Lord

a) There was a wedding reception that Jesus and His disciples attended   (John 2)
b) At the wedding feast, the wine ran out
c) Jesus performed a miracle that was known only to the Disciples
i) Water was turned to the best wine
ii) Jesus did not draw attention to Himself

OBSERVATION OF THE DISCIPLES OF JESUS

1. The glory of the Lord Jesus was obviously manifested

2. Wherein was that glory?

a) Only the power of the Lord could have achieved this
b) Gracious understanding displayed
c) Compassion for the family in a potentially embarrassing public event
d) Outstanding humility of the Lord Jesus

THE GLORY OF GOD MANIFESTED

1. The earth is full of His glory

2. We need keenly observe and then to see the glory of the Lord manifested
