THE PARABLE OF THE MUSTARD SEED

1. The focus of this parable: “The Kingdom of heaven”   (Matthew 13:31)

2. It was meant to help people understand the work of the Lord Jesus in establishing the Kingdom of heaven

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

1. Few fully comprehended what the Lord Jesus came to do

a) It was not well-understood
b) It was even less appreciated!

2. Many came to the Lord Jesus

a) For personal reasons
i) To be healed
ii) To have the Lord Jesus cast out demons
b) For wrong reasons
i) To find fault
ii) To challenge the Lord Jesus

DEEP THOUGHTS ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

1. It may not seem much in the beginning stage

a) It is compared to a humble mustard seed
b) The work of the Lord Jesus began in a small way
i) A few disciples
ii) Humble teaching of God’s word

2. It would become a major thing

a) It would grow significantly
b) It would outgrow all the other vegetable seeds
c) It would be like a tree

AN APPRECIATION OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

1. The Kingdom of Heaven has grown significantly

2. It began in Israel in a humble way but it has become world-wide

3. The Kingdom of Heaven is an eternal one

a) No one can destroy this kingdom
b) It is destined to become great
