GIVING PRAISE TO GOD FROM SUPERNATURAL JOY

“Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed and he spoke, praising God.”   Luke 1:64

“Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, ‘Blessed is the Lord God of Israel.”   Luke 1:67

1. The practice of praising God

a. In keeping with established practices
b. In giving God all the glory

2. The possession of supernatural joy

a. He was filled with the Holy Spirit
b. He prophesied with great joy

3. The extending of supernatural joy

DIMENSIONS OF EXTENDED SUPERNATURAL JOY

1. Joy that is personal – Zacharias   (Luke 1:76-77)

a. His son John shall be called the prophet of the Highest
b. He will go before the Lord to prepare His ways

2. Joy that extends to the nation – The nation of Israel   (Luke 1:68-75)

a. Redemption aspect
i. Visited His people
ii. Redeemed His people
b. Messianic aspect
i. Horn of salvation
ii. In the house of His servant David
c. Covenant aspect
i. To perform mercy promised to their fathers
ii. To remember His holy covenant

3. Joy that extends globally – Joy found in the Lord Jesus   (Luke 1:78-79)

a. The great mercies of the Lord
b. Dayspring from on high
c. To shine on those who sit in darkness
d. To guide our feet into the way of peace

HAVING DEPTH OF JOY AND PRAISE TO GOD

1. Divine expanding of our mind

2. Depth of knowledge and understanding

3. Deep impact

a. Depth of joy
b. Depth of praise
