(I) THE CONCEPT OF THE LORD HOLDING THE HAND OF THOSE HE CALLS

“And will hold your hand.” Isaiah 42:6

1. It is an expression of tender love

a) It is a love between a father and a son

b) It is this tender love and relationship that God has for His servants

2. It is an expression of powerful sustaining

a) The Lord upholding with His righteous right hand

“I will uphold you with My righteous right hand…” Isaiah 41:10

b) The Lord holding to our right hand.

“For I , the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, “Fear not, I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13

3. It is an expression of definitive leading

“Even there Your hand shall lead me, And your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:10

4. It is an expression of security and safety

“Neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:28

(II) THE PEOPLE WHOSE HANDS GOD WILL HOLD

1. His servants

a) The Lord Jesus as servant (Isaiah 42:1)

b) Israel as servant (Isaiah 41:8-9)

2. His chosen ones

a) The Lord Jesus as the elect one (Isaiah 42:1)

b) Israel as the chosen one (Isaiah 41:9)

3. Us

(III) THE CHALLENGE TO TRUST IN THE LORD’S HAND IN OUR CALLING

1. Having deep assurance that the Lord is holding our hand

2. Holding fast to the Lord’s hand

3. Letting Him guide us with His hand

4. Trusting that His hand would sustain and help us in our calling
