“SO THE LORD WAS WITH JOSHUA”


(I) THE PROMISE OF GOD TO JOSHUA

1. To be with him as He was with Moses (Joshua 1:5)

2. To ensure that no man will stand before him (Joshua 1:5)

3. To assure him that He will never be forsaken (Joshua 1:5)

 

(II) PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATIONS OF GOD’S PRESENCE

1. The Crossing over Jordan dry-shod (Joshua 4)

2. The Commander of the army of the Lord appears (Joshua 5)

 

(III) POWERFUL ENEMY

1. Jericho (Joshua 6)

a) Difficult city to conquer

b) Fortified Wall


2. Israel

a) Had never come across a more fortified city

b) No strategy found to defeat Jericho

 

(IV) POWER OF GOD AT WORK

1. God’s battle plans revealed (Joshua 6)


2. Significance of this battle plan

a) It would require faith

b) It would require obedience


3. God’s power unleashed

a) Jericho fell

b) Israel was victorious

 

(V) PRESENCE OF GOD

“So the LORD was with Joshua, and his name spread throughout all the country.” Joshua 6:27

1. God had kept His promise

2. He had fulfilled all that He had said to Joshua
