LEARNING FROM THE EXAMPLE OF DAVID

1. David faced many problems in his life (v2, v6, v12)

2. At first, he did not seek God as he should have

a. False sense of confidence (v1 – 3)
i. In his past experiences
ii. In himself
b. He had his own ideas of how to seek God (v4 – 6)
i. To dwell in the tabernacle of the LORD
ii. To inquire in His temple

3. He had to be corrected

a. Through the Word of God
b. “Seek My face” (v8)

4. He learnt to seek God’s face

a. Whole-hearted response (v8)
i. My heart said to You
ii. “Your face, LORD, I will seek”
b. Prayer (v11)
i. “Teach me Your way, O LORD”
ii. “Lead me in a smooth path”
c. Believe (v13)
i. “I would have lost heart”
ii. “Unless I had believed”
iii. “That I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living”

ii. “He shall strengthen your heart”
