Message Notes

IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD?

1. A rhetorical question raised by God to us

2. It is raised because sometimes we feel that some things are too hard for God to help

EXAMPLE OF MOSES, A GREAT SERVANT OF GOD

1. One of the greatest leaders of Israel and prophets of God in the Old Testament

2. But Moses did not start out with great confidence of his calling to serve God

3. Instead, he started out feeling that his calling was too hard

MOSES’ INITIAL STRUGGLES WITH GOD’S PLAN

1. God’s plan   (Exodus 3:7-10)

a. Deliver Israel from bondage in Egypt
b. Bring them to a large land flowing with milk and honey
c. Moses to represent Him for this great work

2. Moses’ response   (Exodus 3:11, 13)

a. “Who am I…”
b. “What shall I say to them?”

3. Why did Moses respond like that?

a. He did not comprehend God’s plan from God’s standpoint
b. Instead, he comprehended God’s plan from his standpoint
i. His age (80 years old)
ii. Out of touch with the people
iii. Not knowledgeable enough
c. His fears and doubts crept in and affected him

GOD’S ANSWER TO MOSES

1. Focus on God Himself   (Exodus 3:12-21)

a. “I will certainly be with you” (presence)
b. “I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt” (promise)
c. “I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt” (power)
d. “I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians” (provision)

2. Challenge for Moses – exercise his faith in God!

a. Stop looking at the situation from his standpoint
b. Start focusing on God and believing in Him

THE APPROPRIATE RESPONSE – FOLLOW THROUGH IN FAITH

1. Moses eventually exercised his faith

2. He believed God and followed through

3. This was how he became one of the greatest servants of the Lord!

CHALLENGE FOR US ALL

1. Stop looking at our situation from our standpoint

2. Focus on God instead

3. Exercise our faith in Him and follow through

a. In the life He calls us to live
b. In the areas where He calls us to serve
