INTRODUCTION: HAVING A SENSE OF INADEQUACY

1. Many times in life we feel a sense of inadequacy

2. We feel that we lack in many areas

a. Lack of knowledge
b. Lack of experience
c. Lack of skill
d. Lack of competence

3. These may be real and legitimate

MOSES STRUGGLED WITH A SENSE OF INADEQUACY TOO

1. He lacked the skill of speaking   (Exodus 4:10)

2. This was real and legitimate

a. He had been a shepherd for decades
b. He had not practised the use of his voice much

GOD’S ANSWER TO MOSES

1. God made him

a. The Creator knows what His creation is capable of   (Exodus 4:11)
b. He knows how to help

2. God will teach him

a. What he should say   (Exodus 4: 12)
b. What he should do   (Exodus 4: 15)

3. God will help him cultivate specific skills needed

a. Moses needed to cultivate the skill of speaking
b. God promised to help him cultivate this specific skill   (Exodus 4: 12)

A RESPONSE OF FAITH

1. Let us exercise our faith in the Lord

a. It is not about what we lack
b. We need the faith to believe that nothing is too hard for the Lord

2. How should we respond?

a. Let us believe the Lord
b. Let us learn as He teaches
c. Let us obey His command to practise our faith!

APPLICATION TO ALL

1. There are many things we can attempt and achieve in life and ministry

2. But we often allow feelings of inadequacy to get in the way

3. Instead, we should face feelings of inadequacy with faith in God

a. There is nothing too hard for the Lord
b. He will teach us and help us in every way
