DECLARATION OF THE GREATNESS OF THE LORD’S WORKS

“O Lord, how great are your works…”   Psalm 92:5

1. Pondering the greatness of God’s work

a. Very deep thoughts behind His works
b. Not everyone can understand them
c. The wicked versus the righteous

2. Development of knowledge and faith

a. Discovering the attributes of God
i. His great lovingkindness   (Psalm 92:2)
ii. His great faithfulness   (Psalm 92:2)
b. Seeing the sovereignty of God
i. O Most High   (Psalm 92:1)
ii. The Lord is high forever   (Psalm 92:8)
c. Seeing God for who He is in old age   (Psalm 92:15)
i. His righteousness
ii. He is Rock

3. Definite results of God’s great works   (Psalm 92:4)

a. It makes us glad
b. It makes us triumph

PROFOUND APPRECIATION OF GOD’S WORK

1. Personal

“But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox. I have been anointed with fresh oil.”   Psalm 92:10
a. Exalted with strength
b. Anointed with fresh oil

2. People

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like Cedar in Lebanon….”   Psalm 92:12
a. Growth
i. Palm tree
ii. Cedar in Lebanon
b. Bearing fruit in old age
c. Fresh and flourishing

PRACTISE PRAISING GOD FOR HIS GREATNESS

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.”   Psalm 92:1

“To declare that the Lord is upright, He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”   Psalm 92:18

1. Daily praise in the morning and in the evening

a. Giving thanks
b. Singing praises to His name
c. Declaring His attributes

2. Weekly praise in worship (Sabbath day)

3. A lifetime of praising God

a. To declare that the Lord is upright
b. He is our Rock
c. No unrighteousness in Him
