1. The worship that Cain and Abel offered the Lord

a) He built an altar to the LORD

b) Calling on the name of the LORD   Genesis 12:8

3. The worship that Isaac offered to God

a) He built an altar

b) And called on the name of the LORD   Genesis 26:25

4. The worship that Jacob offered to God

a) Set up a pillar b) Poured oil on it

c) Called upon the name of the LORD   Genesis 28:19

d) Made a vow   Genesis 28:20-22

PRE-TABERNACLE WORSHIP

1. Altars of Earth   Exodus 20:22-24

a) No statues of gold or silver

b) A simple altar of earth

i) To place the sacrifices (sheep and oxen)

ii) Burnt offerings

iii) Peace offerings

2. Altars of Stone

a) Not made of hewn stones   Exodus 20:25

b) No tool to be used   Exodus 20:25

c) No steps to the Altar   Exodus 20:26

3. God’s Name

a) In every place   Exodus 20:24

b) Where I will record My name   Exodus 20:24

c) I will come to you   Exodus 20:24

d) And I will bless you   Exodus 20:24
