a) Of every commandment given   (Deuteronomy 8:1)

a) That you may live
b) And multiply
c) And go in and possess the land   (Deuteronomy 8:1)

3. Taking care to remember

a) That the LORD your God led you   (Deuteronomy 8:2)
b) Forty years   (Deuteronomy 8:2)
c) To humble you
d) And test you
e) To know what is in your heart   (Deuteronomy 8:2)
i) To obey
ii) Or not

4. The humbling work

a) He allowed you to hunger   (Deuteronomy 8:3)
b) And fed you with manna
Which you did not know
Nor did your fathers know   (Deuteronomy 8:3)

5. The Vital Lesson

a) That He might make you know
b) That man shall not live by bread alone
c) But man lives by every word
That proceeds from the mouth of the LORD   (Deuteronomy 8:3)

6. God’s provision

a) Your garments did not wear out on you   (Deuteronomy 8:4)
b) Nor did your feet swell these forty years   (Deuteronomy 8:4)

7. The chastening of the LORD

a) As a man chastens his son
b) So the LORD chastens you   (Deuteronomy 8:5)
c) You shall know this in your heart   (Deuteronomy 8:5)
