MISCELLANEOUS LAWS

(With reference to Entering the Assembly of the LORD)

FORBIDDEN TO ENTER INTO THE ASSEMBLY OF THE LORD

1. The eunuchs   (Deuteronomy 23:1)

2. Illegitimate children   (Deuteronomy 23:2)

Up to the 10th generation

3. The Ammonites

Up to the 10th generation   (Deuteronomy 23:3)

4. The Moabites

Up to the 10th generation   (Deuteronomy 23:3)

5. Reasons:

a) They did not receive the children of Israel with due hospitality
i) Bread
ii) Water
b) They hired Balaam to curse the children of Israel
c) God refused to listen to Balaam   (Deuteronomy 23:4-5)

6. God’s love

a) God turned the curses to blessings
b) Because of His love for the children of Israel   (Deuteronomy 23:6)

7. Forbidden to seek the Lord and pray

a) For their peace
b) And their prosperity

8. The Edomites

a) He is not to be despised
b) He is your brother   (Deuteronomy 23:7)

9. The Egyptians

a) The children of Israel had lived in their land (Joseph’s time)
b) They may enter the Assembly of the Lord in the third generation
