REMEMBERING A NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE

1. The pains of death surrounded me (Psalm 116:3a)

2. The pangs of Sheol laid hold of me (Psalm 116:3b)

3. I found trouble and sorrow (Psalm 116:3c)

CRYING OUT TO GOD

1. Then I called upon the name of the LORD (Psalm 116:4a)

2. O LORD, I implore You, deliver my soul (Psalm 116:4b)

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE TO THE LORD

1. I love the LORD

a) Because He has heard my voice and my supplication (Psalm 116:1a)
b) Because He has inclined His ear to me (Psalm 116:2a)
2. Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live (Psalm 116:2b)

A GOOD TESTIMONY

1. About the LORD

a) Gracious is the LORD (Psalm 116:5a)
b) And righteous (Psalm 116:5b)
c) Yes, our God is merciful (Psalm 116:5c)
d) The LORD preserves the simple (Psalm 116:6a)
e) I was brought low and He saved me (Psalm 116:6b)
f) You have delivered my soul from death (Psalm 116:8a)
g) And my eyes from tears (Psalm 116:8b)
h) And my feet from falling (Psalm 116:8c)

2. Personal determination

a) Return to your rest, O my soul
For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you (Psalm 116:7)
b) I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living (Psalm 116:9)
c) I believed therefore I spoke (Psalm 116:10)
