An Evening Of Praising God With Our Whole Heart

Youth Praise Night is finally here and we should look forward to giving our best when we offer praises to God. When one’s heart is filled with gratitude to God, there comes a deep sense of excitement and commitment to worship the Lord with every opportunity that comes our way. There should be a deep desire to honor the Lord with everything we have. King David had such a desire when he wrote Psalm 138:

“I will praise You with my whole heart;
Before the gods I will sing praises to You.
I will worship toward your holy temple,
And praise Your name.”

Psalm 138:1-2

There was tremendous determination in his heart to offer praises to God from his whole heart. He sought to put his whole being into singing to the Lord because He deserves nothing less than our best. He was determined to sing praises to God before the “gods”. King David was unashamed to declare the glory of God before kings and their people. He was determined to offer his whole-hearted worship towards God’s heavenly temple and to lift up His name. Young people, let’s also seek to put our every effort (heart, soul and mind) to worshipping the Lord at Youth Praise Night and always. Let’s sing praises to His name before all who would be coming.

Great Is The Glory Of The Lord

“For great is the glory of the Lord.”
Psalm 138:5

What was David’s reason to give praise to God? What would cause all the kings of the earth to sing of the Lord and His ways? It would be because of the great glory of God and His works. Through His work, we would see Him as a truly loving and merciful God. What are some of these works?

1. The Glory Of God’s Word

“For you have magnified Your word above all Your name.”
Psalm 138:2

God’s word is truly glorious. He has exalted his word above all that His name represents. God’s word will always remain true and faithful. It shows us the way to live. Even when Kings hear of His word, they will praise Him. There is no greater book than the word of God.

2. The Glory Of God Answering Of Prayers

“In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.”

Psalm 138:3

God is One who always hear and answer our prayers. David cried out to the Lord and He answered him in his time of need. He gave grace and strengthened his soul with boldness.

3. The Glory Of God’s Perfecting Work

“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me”
Psalm 138:8

There is also the glory in God working in our lives, perfecting us to be what He wants us to be. According to His mercies, He would humble and mold us. He will work in our lives till we reflect His glory. Let’s praise the Lord that He would even be concerned in refining our lives.
