USING OUR TIME WELL

Don’t Waste Precious Time

Time is an entity that should be valued and treasured. However, the tendency for people is to misuse it… especially during the holiday time. If we are honest with ourselves, we can conclude that we have wasted more time on useless pursuits than on meaningful ones. Time is precious and transient. It passes by far quicker than we realize. Moses wrote of how we are to pray to God that He may teach us how to number our days (Psalm 90:12). We have only a short life. Let’s pray that we can utilize our days wisely.

The Challenge To Use Our Time Well

How can we go about using our time well?

1. Walking Wisely

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
Ephesians 5:15-16

The word “circumspectly” means to do something carefully and prudently. If we are truly sons of God, then we must seek to live our lives wisely and not foolishly. Much time has already been wasted on our part. We must live as if we were “buying back time”. The reason is that the days are filled with so much evil. If we are not prudent, we could allow ourselves to fall into sin. The devil will seek to do all he can to tempt us and cause us to sin foolishly. Our challenge is to choose wisely how we live each day.

2. Understanding And Doing The Will Of God

“Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
Ephesians 5:17

Let’s not be like people who are unwise and do not give much thought to how they live. Instead, we must seek to understand what the will of God is. We must pray that God will fill us with the knowledge of His will. Young people, how well do we know the will of God? When we know it well, we will know how best to live well.

Plan Your Time Wisely

It is important that we plan our days with wisdom and with the will of God in mind. For those who are taking major exams at the end of the year, do plan time to catch up on your work. When we do well in our studies, we glorify the Lord’s name. We must also plan to walk with the Lord each day. Let’s take this time to know His word in a deeper way and to cultivate a prayer life. For those who can help out at Junior Camp, do plan to come and help out. Let’s seek to use our time prudently. Let’s seek to do God’s will each day.
