The Appreciation Of The Grace Of God That Brings Salvation

The grace of God is an important aspect of the doctrine of Salvation. Amongst other aspects of Salvation like the mercies, the kindness, and the love of God, the grace of God stands out. It is something to be understood and appreciated further. When Paul wrote to Titus, he wrote of how the grace of God that brings salvation appeared to all.

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men”
Titus 2:11

The Lord Jesus, our great God and Savior, gave Himself for us that He may redeem us from all our sins (Titus 2:13). This grace of God that brings salvation was revealed and preached to all men. It was not just meant for the elect. It was meant to be given to all men. Such is the grace of God. It is so great that it is extended to all men. God intended salvation for all men. Young people, let’s learn to appreciate so much more the grace of God that brings salvation.

The Application Of The Grace Of God That Brings Salvation

As we appreciate God’s grace, how can we apply this truth to our lives?

1. It Trains Us To Live In The Right Way

“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age”
Titus 2:12

The word “teaching” has the idea of training up a child. It means to assist in the development of a person’s ability to make appropriate choices. If we do not take the grace of God for granted, it will train us to do the right things. The fear of the Lord will be cultivated in our lives. Our appreciation of the grace of God should cause us to live our lives differently from the world. It will cause us to deny ourselves of wrong lifestyles like living in ungodliness and worldly lust. We will instead determine to live our lives with self-control, righteousness, and in godliness.

2. It Gives Us A Great Sense Of Hope In The Second Coming Of Christ

“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Titus 3:13

The doctrine of Christ’s return will also become very real to us. The Lord Jesus had promised that He will come again one day. When we truly appreciate the grace of God that brings salvation, there will also be this definite and blessed hope that Christ will come again. We will look forward to being reunited with Christ and to meet Him face to face. The Lord Jesus will gloriously appear one day with great majesty and honor. Let’s be ready for His second coming. Let’s look forward to that day by living our life most carefully and wisely.
