Appreciating The Concept Of Integration

Last weekend, we had our first combined YPG-YAG meeting. It was an exciting time of understanding what each fellowship group would be doing for the year. The YPG 1 (Sec. 1-4) will be focusing on the framework of Biblical knowledge. The YPG 2 (J.C. and tertiary levels) will be emphasising the development of skills for ministry. The YAG will be learning how to apply their faith in life and ministry. The AM will be looking into the actual practice of ministry. These are well planned goals for each group to work with. There is tremendous cohesiveness and integration as a whole. This is something we want to keep working on. Our challenge is to integrate even more as fellowship groups.

Going Beyond Our Comfort Zone

One of the ways to integrate further is to go beyond being with our own group of friends. Let’s go beyond our “comfort zone”. We are naturally more comfortable being with our own clich¨¦s during fellowship times. If we want to integrate further among the fellowship groups, we must move beyond the normal people we tend to be with. Let’s seek to talk to new people. Let’s also seek to grow in our love for others.

Increasing Our Love For Each Other

How can we increase our love for each other?

1. Praying About It

“And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all”
1 Thessalonians 3:12

In text of 1 Thessalonians 3, Paul saw how the Thessalonians’ love for each other needed to be perfected further (along with other areas). Paul prayed that the Lord would not just enable them to increase but truly abound in love. The Thessalonians already had a basic level of love for the brethren. But it was not enough. Paul prayed that their love would increase not just for one another but for all. We need to pray that God will help us increase the level of our love. Let’s pray that He will truly expand our capacity to love each other.

2. Learning About It From Good Examples

“Just as we do to you”
1 Thessalonians 3:12

The Thessalonian Church also learnt how to love more through Paul’s example. He demonstrated to them what it meant to love others dearly through his life and ministry. He cherished the church as a nursing mother would her baby. He exhorted and comforted them as a loving father does his own children. The Thessalonians needed to grow in faith and love so that they may be established and blameless before the Lord when He comes. Let’s also learn from good examples in our church on how to love others. Let’s seek to increase our love for all.
