Testings Help Us See How Well We Regard God’s Word

Testings give us a better understanding of our regard of God’s word. The Lord allows His people to go through the difficulties of life to see whether they would continue to keep His word. When the people of Israel went through 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, He sought to humble them and to test their heart. He wanted to see what kind of heart they had and whether they would still love Him by obeying His word in times of hardship.

“To humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So he humbled you, allowed you to hunger…”
Deuteronomy 8:2-3

It is only through testings that we can see how much we really treasure the word of God. It also helps us see how badly we need God’s word in our lives to survive those testings. Young people, is the word of God central in your life?

Taking Time To Feed On The Lord’s Word

“… that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 8:3

One of the challenges of life is to learn to live by the word of God. The Lord tested the people of Israel so that they would learn not to focus on the physical needs of life only. Life is far more than just meeting our physical needs like hunger. It is also learning to live by the word of God. Very often, it takes the testings of life to help us appreciate how essential the word of God is to our soul. We are meant to find tremendous life and strength from the Scriptures. We are to live on every word that God had inscribed in the Bible. Young people, do you take the time to feed on the word of God? Let’s seek to read, meditate and digest the Lord’s truth daily. When we live on the word of God, we would find the spiritual strength to overcome any challenge or testing of life.

“Unless we have learned to live on the word of God, real spiritual vitality would never be ours.”
